Mr. Siegel is the host for All Things Considered - National Public Radio and has written books on his NPR interviews. He attended Columbia University. He began his radio career his freshman year in college. In the early 1970s, he was a reporter, host, and news director for WRVR radio in New York, where he was part of the team that won an Armstrong Award.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Siegel won the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Silver Baton Award for excellence in broadcast journalism in 1984 for his coverage of the peace movement in East and West Germany. In 1995, he shared the Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Silver Baton Award for a story on the resurgence of the Republican party. The American Bar Association gave him its Silver Gavel Award in 1997 for a story called 'Murder, Punishment, and Parole in Alabama.'
