Mr. Shapiro Verified

Howard Shapiro is a meteorologist for FOX 13. He joined the FOX 13 team in September of 1974. He came directly to WTVT after graduation and spends a great deal of his off-duty time still talking about the weather. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He has become a popular speaker at local schools. Shapiro holds the American Meteorological Society Seal of Approval and has done so for twenty-five years. He was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He grew up in Long Island, New York and served four years in the Navy, including one year in Vietnam. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He and his wife, Gail, have two children, Ricky and Jackie. His hobbies include scuba diving and bowling. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Shapiro graduated from the State University of New York in Oswego, where he earned his degree in meteorology. While attending college, he worked for Teleprompter Cable TV in Oswego, New York.
