In addition to being a columnist for the Tribune Media Services, Leonard Pitts is a pop music critic for the Miami Herald. He was an editor for Soul magazine and a writer and producer for Who We Are? an award-winning 1988 radio documentary on the history of black America. His work has appeared in publications such as Musician, Spin, TV Guide, Reader's Digest and Parenting. Mr. Pitts is a recipient of the Ninth Annual Writing award for Commentary from the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors and has received awards from the Society of Professional Journalists, the National Association of Black Journalists and the Simon Wiesenthal Center. His is the author of Becoming Dad: Black Men and the Journey to Fatherhood.
