Ms. Amanda Davis is an award-winning anchor that has served for WAGA-TV since 1986.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Davis played an important role in the debut of the popular program "Good Day Atlanta" in 1992. She eventually served as the lead anchor in 1997.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Prior to working for WAGA, she served as an anchor and reporter for WSB-TV.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Her first job in the industry, however, was with the former NBC affiliate station WRET-TV. For four years there, she served as a lead anchor, and hosted a weekly magazine program.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Before joining the WRET news team, Davis had moved to Washington D.C. to serve as a Washington correspondent for the Satellite News Channel.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Among her numerous awards and recognitions, she earned two Emmy Awards in 1999 and 2000 for Best Newscast. The Atlanta Association of Black Journalists also named her Best Anchor in 2000.[CR-LF][CR-LF]More importantly to Davis, however, is finding homes for foster children in Georgia. [CR-LF][CR-LF]With its inception in 2000, "Wednesday's Child" earned Davis recognition for her support from the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists, and the Kenan's Kids Foundation Media Award.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Davis graduated from Clark College with magna cum laude honors, and has been recognized with the Distinguished Alumni Award and Community Service Award.
