Filters Used in RO Water Purification System

Number of deaths due to waterborne diseases, are increasing gradually in India. India has lost more than one lakh lives due to waterborne diseases. The issue of availability of safe drinking water is arising day by day across the India.

Days are gone when it was enough to boil water to make it suitable and safe for drinking purposes. Industrial development and a huge increase in population ensued in enhancing water contamination and making it necessary to purify water prior to drinking. From here RO plant manufacturers come in frame to provide an efficient water purifying system.

The RO plant manufacturers use different types of filters to give the best results. These filters include Ultraviolet, Reverse Osmosis, Activated carbon, and UF as well. These all filters work step by step to give the purest form of water. Here we will briefly describe the filters and their functionality used in the water purification system.

Reverse Osmosis (RO) Filters:

In mountain areas water contains usually high amounts of dissolved minerals and for that RO water purification system is best. Step by step filtration process is used in Reverse Osmosis Plant.

This filter uses a combination of activated carbon and partially porous membrane, activated carbon helps in removing the impurities while membrane helps in removing all the pathogens and microorganisms. The taste of water also becomes good after treatment with this purification system.

Activated Carbon Filter:

Activated carbon filter is the most suitable filter for removing all the soluble gases like ammonia, carbon mono oxide, and chlorine. This filter also aids in removing sediments and other organic matters like algae and leaves.

These filters are porous and manufactured in such a way to easily absorb all the impurities. The home-based carbon filters are polished with a line of activated silver that is very helpful in killing bacteria. These filters are usually not recommended in areas with a higher TDS ratio.

Ultraviolet Filter:

As per the name suggests, ultraviolet technology is used in these filters to kill bacteria, cyst, germs, and other pathogens that can be harmful to human health by hitting their DNA cells. These filters are very effective and can remove up to 99% of harmful germs.

In these filters, UV radiations are emitted from a mercury lamp and these radiations attack the DNA cells of bacteria and viruses demolishing their ability of reproduction. This filter only kills pathogens, there is a separate filter required for the removal of these pathogens. This filter is very liable for biologically unsafe water.

UF Filters:

These filters have the same composition as the RO filter but with larger pores as compared to the RO filter. The membrane in these filters is very helpful in getting rid of all the colloidal particles and pathogenic organisms.

The drawback of these filters is that they are not suitable for removing solids and dissolved salts from water. They are ideal for the purification of soft water having the least ratio of TDS. In short, these are best for pre and post-filtration procedures.

Important Considerations:

There are some important points that will help you to choose best RO water purification system for you.

¢    Check the quality of purified water prior to purchasing
¢    Check the storage capacity that is best suitable according to your needs.
¢    Check the treatment method, more the purification more cleaned water.
¢    Check the compatibility according to water you want to use for treatment.
¢    Consult about the certifications to ensure the best quality product.

There are a lot of RO plant manufacturers available in the market using different techniques for purification. Some of them are using combination of different techniques and costly but these combinations are too much secure to give you the desired purified water you need for.
