David Wire's first love for weather came at the age of eight when he witnessed the Aurora Borealis in northern Ontario while on an annual fishing trip. Ever since then, he has kept his eyes towards the sky and wondered why. David's love for weather and the sky were reinforced when he witnessed and recorded Haley's Comet in 1986. [CR-LF][CR-LF]David was born and raised in Greenwood, Indiana, and lived there until the age of 14 when he moved to Frankfort, Indiana. As a native Midwesterner, he views Indiana's ever-changing weather as an "enjoyable challenge." [CR-LF][CR-LF]While in college, David was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity holding various offices. He was president from March 1997 to March 1998, Chaplain for two years, and Historian in his senior year. He is currently on the Sigma Nu Alumni Board of Directors and serves as the Collegian Liaison Director for the Iota Psi Chapter at Indiana State University. [CR-LF][CR-LF]In his spare time, David enjoys mountain biking, hiking, traveling and spending time with his wonderful family. [CR-LF] [CR-LF]Wire earned his Meteorology Certificate from Mississippi State University in August of 2003. Prior to that he earned a bachelor's of science in Radio/Television/Film with a minor in Management from Indiana State University.
