Mr. Welch Verified

Mark Welch is a program director for WKMS-FM.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Welch began his radio career as a student host of Jazz Horizons at WKMS. In 1979 he joined the full-time staff as a host and producer. He left the station for a few years in 1985, came back part-time in the 90's, and left again. He then returned to the station in 1999 and took his current post.[CR-LF][CR-LF]He was born in Detroit and raised in Fulton, Kentucky. He graduated from Murray State University in 1978 with a degree in Journalism/Radio-TV.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Welch is married to Karen, the promotions director at the station and they have two sons. Mark and Karen co-pastor a non-denominational bi-racial church in Murray, manage a Christian bookstore and coffee bar owned by the church, and are involved in campus ministry at Murray State, Young Life, and Murray Main Street.
