Kara Sundlun is the co-host of Better Connecticut with Scot Haney and can be seen every weekday at 10 a.m. on WFSB-TV. She also co-anchors Eyewitness News at Noon.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In 2000, she joined WFSB-TV and has covered several of Connecticut's biggest news events. She was the only Connecticut reporter to travel to Washington, D.C., to report with exclusive interviews with local lawmakers as the Iraq war began.[CR-LF][CR-LF]When the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks struck the United States, she reported live from Ground Zero as Connecticut firefighters searched for victims. She has also traveled to Bosnia and Germany to report on local troops fighting the war on terrorism.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Previously, she was a youth reporter for WPRI-TV in Providence, R.I. She has also worked at both WOTV-TV and WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich. and has interned at the White House and CNN's Washington Bureau.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In 2005, she received an Emmy award for outstanding achievement in reporting. She has also won an Emmy award for the story "Swimming with Sharks," an in-depth look at sharks swimming in New England waters. She has also been named "Best Local TV News Reporter" by Hartford Magazine, and in 2006, she was included in the Hartford Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40.[CR-LF][CR-LF]A native of suburban Detroit, she has many ties to New England with family in Rhode Island. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan, where she earned a dual degree in political science and communications.[CR-LF][CR-LF]While living Hartford, she participates in charity events trying to raise money for local causes. She is married to Eyewitness News anchor Dennis House. They are proud parents of their baby girl Helena.
