Edward Lowenstein is a professor of anaesthesiology and bioethics at Harvard University Medical School. He is an associate anesthetist, an assistant in anesthesia, and an honorary anesthetist of Massachusetts General Hospital. He served as an assistant anesthetist of Massachusetts General Hospital. He was an instructor, an associate professor, an assistant professor of anaesthesia, a senior fellow of Division of Medical Ethics at Department of Social Medicine. He was a consultant anesthetist of Chelsea Naval Hospital, a consultant for cardiac anesthesia at Johns Hopkins University, a visiting scientist of Nuffield Department. He was an assistant director of NIH; a co-director of Harvard Anaesthesia Center; a lecturer in physiology of American College of Chest Physicians; an invited lecturer of 44th Annual Assembly of Japan; a Benjamin Covino lecturer of University of Massachusetts Medical Center; an associate examiner of American Board of Anesthesiologists; a consultant of A&LSAC; a clerk of Beth Israel Hospital Physicians Incorporation; a senior tutor of Castle Society; and a founder and an editor of Anesthesiology at Edward Lowenstein Professorship. Lowenstetin is a senior editor of Journal of Clinical Anesthesia; an editor of Journal of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia & Journal of Cardiothoracic; an editorial consultant for intelligence reports in cardiovascular disease at Intelligence Reports in Anesthesia, and Vascular Anesthesia; an editor for ethics, economics and outcome of current opinion; and a program chairman of Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiologists. He served as an anesthetist-in-chief in the department of anesthesia and critical care at the former Beth Israel Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess. He spent two years in the U.S. Army. He used to work as a nurse to make a little money. Lowenstein is a member of the Education Committee of Department of Anesthesia, the Subcommittee On Review of Research Proposals, the Research Committee, and the Grievance Committee. He was also a member of the Senior Common Room, the Critical Care Committee, the Residency Overview Committee, the Anesthesia and Life Support Advisory Committee at Federal Drug , the Committee on Isotopes, the Committee On Clinical Care at American Society of Anesthesiologists, and the W.T.G. Morton Society Founding. He holds an M.D. in anesthesia from the University of Michigan Medical School.
