 I'm a multimedia journalist covering Middle East breaking news and Congress for Al-Monitor. I was previously a freelancer in Iraq and Syria. While there, I primarily reported on the fight against ISIS, the Turkey-Kurdish conflict, the Iraqi Christian community, protests in Iraq, the Syrian civil war, Iranian policy in the Middle East and US foreign policy. I have primarily contributed to Al Jazeera English, The National, Middle East Eye and Happs News. My work has additionally appeared in The Associated Press (AP), U.S. News & World Report and Il Giornale. I also write about links between protests in the United States and the Middle East for Al-Monitor. I speak Arabic and Spanish proficiently as well as some Kurdish.
