The Florida Venture Forum has selected Miles Space, a Tampa aerospace
startup, to present at the Aerospace Innovation & Tech Forum via
webinar series on May 22, 2020, and May 29, 2020, with prize money award
announcements on June 5, 2020. This will be the third annual
aerospace-focused event the Forum has hosted in partnership with Space
Florida.
Miles Space, founded from its wins within the NASA-sponsored CubeSat
challenge, set its sights on the local Florida competition, which
carries with it a share of a $100,000 cash prize, which will help the
company ensure that its satellite is ready to launch in the first
quarter of 2021. The team has created not only a new way of propelling satellites
through space, but also a revolutionary new way to track them via Miles
Space's propulsion system. That propulsion system is a new kind of water
vapor-based electric plasma drive shown to be significantly more
efficient than any other propulsion system on the market today. Ben Patz, Florida Venture Forum board member, head of the event
selection committee and managing partner of DeepWork Capital, stated in a
public email, The Florida Venture Forum and Space Florida have
provided a unique opportunity for companies with innovative technical
solutions to showcase those solutions virtually. The number of
applicants for this event from all around the world has been humbling.
This has allowed the selection of a truly diverse mix of companies with
innovative and inspirational technologies. Our goal is to build a one-stop-shop for super-economical space
travel, says Wesley Faler, Miles Space CEO. A modern-day gold rush is
coming in space, and those who can get there first, fast, and least
expensively are going to win. It is this combination of propulsion and communication systems that
has landed Miles Space in the finalist category for the Florida Venture
Forum, with its own small share of the prize money awarded just for
making it this far. Within a few days, the winners will be selected and
Miles Space may be able to add another trophy to its shelves. The
company's satellites are already scheduled to be launched by NASA, but
the long-term vision for Miles Space requires capital investment and
that may be the door opened by this new win. ABOUT MILES SPACE Based in Tampa, Florida, Miles Space Inc. is an aerospace company
developing a unique water vapor-based propulsion for satellites as well
as satellite communication, drone detection, and a new type of radar.
Miles Space's vision unifies these technologies of today with the
inevitable commercial future of deep space exploration. Source - https://www.newswire.com/news/tampa-firm-miles-space-wins-another-round-in-global-aerospace-21149079
