Tom Mustin started his broadcast career in Los Angeles where he worked as an actor and magazine publisher. Mustin attended UCLA to study broadcast journalism and began his television career as an intern at KABC-TV in Los Angeles, CA. This led to his first job as a reporter at WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, VA. [CR-LF][CR-LF]His next move was to WLBT-TV in Jackson, Miss., where he worked as the weekend anchor and reporter. While at WLBT-TV, Mustin received the coveted Associated Press award for his documentary on the City Council vs. Capitol Cablevision, and was part of the team that received an award for outstanding coverage of the shooting at Pearl High School. In 1998, Mustin joined ABC-45 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he anchored the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He covered many breaking news stories including Hurricane Floyd. Mustin joined News 4 in January of 2002. One of his many highlights at KCNC came in September 2003 when he was honored with a Naval Award from the Navy Recruiting District in Denver following his News 4 report about the official launch of the U.S.S. MUSTIN in to the Naval fleet in San Diego, Calif. The ship is named for Mustin's father and three other family members. Mustin and his wife, Carolyn, have two sons and a daughter. The Mustins, along with the family dog -- a silky terrier named Buster, are proud to call Denver home.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Living all over the world has given Mustin a great understanding of people from all occupations and the ability to translate that knowledge into award-winning journalism. As the son of a three-star Navy admiral, Mustin has lived in London, Athens, Hawaii, and throughout the United States. He attended college at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, where he was a two-year football letterman before transferring to Virginia Tech.
