Sara Welch joined WTNH-TV's News Channel 8 as a reporter in 2000. In 2002, she became the anchor of News Channel 8's weekend evening news, at 6 and 11. Welch also anchors weekend editions of News Channel 8 at 10 on WCTX-TV, News Channel 8's sister station. [CR-LF][CR-LF]She started her broadcasting career as an intern for WCAX-TV in Burlington. She moved to Alpena, Mich., for her first full-time broadcasting job where she was the weekend news, sports, and weather anchor. Welch has also worked as an anchor/reporter for stations in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, and New York.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In Albany, Welch received an Associated Press award for spot news coverage.[CR-LF][CR-LF]A Vermont native, Welch graduated from the University of Vermont.
