Dennis Washington began his broadcasting career in 1992. During his four years in Tuscaloosa, Ala., he worked at student radio station WVUA-FM, Alabama Public Radio?s WUAL-FM, and WDBB-TV.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In December 1995, Washington was hired as an overnight associate producer at FOX6 WBRC-TV. During the years since, he has served FOX6 WBRC-TV as a producer for weekend mornings, weekday mornings, and early evenings and as a weather anchor/storm chaser. He also served as the station?s only weather producer from 1999 to 2001.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Washington graduated with a degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2002. He also earned a diploma from the University of Alabama in 1996. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He has garnered numerous news awards from the Associated Press for his work in radio and television. Washington also received an award in 2003 from the American Red Cross for his work creating a fire safety training video for Hispanics.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Washington was born and raised in Montgomery, Ala. He is very involved in his family, church and community. He is married with two daughters. He has also served as a board member on several community and business organizations, including Project Impact Community Awareness Day, Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association, and the South Alabama chapter of the Hugh O?Brian Youth Foundation.
