Along with being a host and producer for WNPR-FM, Faith Middleton is a contributor to CPTV and National Public Radio's Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Weekend Edition with Scott Simon. She has guest hosted Fresh Air With Terry Gross, and her print stories have appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Denver Post, the Hartford Courant and a variety of national magazines. In addition, she has taught The Art of the Interview at Yale University, where she is an associate fellow. While Middleton reports on traditional mainstream journalism subjects, she also has developed a specialty: reporting on the achievements of ordinary people. She has interviewed more than 7,000 people. Her trademark is the unusual and compelling questions she asks her guests, including Arthur Miller, Mary Martin, Anna Deveare Smith, Walter Cronkite, Annie Dillard, James Earl Jones and Katharine Hepburn. But her interviews with the unknown have provoked the most attention. Crown Publishing invited Middleton to do a book on the remarkable stories she encourages on her public radio call-in show. Her book, The Goodness of Ordinary People, is now in its third printing. She is one of the few interviewers in the world to have received the George Foster Peabody Award.
