
Menna Farouk is a journalist, a filmmaker and an entrepreneur. She is a Cairo correspondent for Thomson Reuters Foundation writing about women rights, entrepreneurship and climate change.
Farouk obtained her master’s degree in television and digital journalism from the American University in Cairo early in 2021 and is now a teaching assistant at the university’s Digital Media Diploma. She is also an independent filmmaker. One of her films, “Bakery of A Woman”, has been selected to compete for the Visions Short Film Festival 2021.
Farouk founded a number of startups that are focusing on empowering women and creating jobs for them. She is also now launching her digital media company “Worth Telling” to tell human-interest stories of ordinary Egyptians.
