Catherine Asquith

Catherine Asquith is an Arts professional based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Widely experienced arts professional and a former Melbourne-based gallerist, I am tertiary educated, have extensive international travel and residency and, in excess of 20 years working within the Australian art market, and latterly, the Asian art market, across both the primary and secondary sectors. In the past 3 years, my focus has been the international blue chip sector, managing private transactions for internationally-based collections.

Attaining a BA with a major in Art History (LaTrobe University, Melbourne), I undertook post-graduate studies in Sociology and completed a thesis for her B.Litt. (Hons.) degree (Deakin University, Melbourne). Thereafter, I commenced a Post-Graduate Diploma in Museumology and Curatorship at the University of Melbourne. Alongside this, I also undertook studies in Shakespearean literature at the University of Cambridge in the U.K.

Over a period of 20 years, residency in London, New York and Singapore has availed an appreciation of the global art market, with regular attendance at various major international art fairs, such as Frieze London & New York, Art Cologne, Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Stage Singapore, and the Korean International Art Fair (KIAF).

My expertise rests with a working knowledge of contemporary art practices inclusive of painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper, in addition to a nuanced understanding of the unique Australian Indigenous art practices.
