Mr. Douglas Appell is a reporter for Crain's Pensions & Investments in the Boston bureau. He covers investment, mutual funds, pensions and benefits and personal finance. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He was previously the equities editor for Dow Jones & Co. in Tokyo. He also worked for Dow Jones' Asian Wall Street Journal, where he wrote a weekly "Heard on the Street" column from Kuala Lumpur. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Appell has a bachelor's degree in economics from Cornell University and a master's in international relations from Johns Hopkins University. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Appell also spent a year at Tokyo University where he studied Japanese politics on a Fulbright scholarship. He is fluent in Japanese.
