ABDIHAFID A ISMAIL

Abdihafid A Ismail is a journalist based in London, United Kingdom.

 I completed a Diploma in Media Studies and Production in 1997 at Sheffield College of Higher Education, Norton Centre and since then worked for the Somali Local BBC Radio Sheffield as a producer on a casual basis, covering a wide range of correspondences. I also produced a number of video projects, one of, which was entitled ‘Our Rights to Health Care’ and was produced for the Somali Community and the National Health Service in Sheffield.

Since I left school in 1996 I have been involved in the Media Industry, working for a number of local radio stations, including Meridian Radio in Sheffield, BBC Radio Sheffield covering a wide range of programs as well as practical production work, including, researching, preparing and presenting items, reading dispatches, featuring radio programs on the Internet.

I have a general knowledge and practical experience of radio production techniques.

At present, I work for Horn Cable Somali TV based in London as a News Reader on a freelance bases, In 2007 and 08, I worked for Raad TV International as a News Presenter,

I have a good broadcasting voice and the ability to acquire the appropriate style as well as the ability to write, adapt and translate with accuracy, clarity and style which will suit a differing audience and forms of media.

Somali is my first language, therefore I can speak, read and write fluently and accurately, I went to school in Sheffield, in the UK and had the opportunity to study in Britain and therefore, can read, write and speak the English language fluently.

I maintain a strong commitment to the need for equal Opportunities policies and practice. I am aware the importance of confidentiality and how it is essential to keep staff information highly confidential. Jobs I have held up to date involved working as part of a team.
