VRT is an exercise-based program for reducing the symptoms of dizziness and feeling imbalance that can be associated with a vestibular dysfunction.
Nearly 40% of people will suffer from symptoms of Vestibular dysfunction, or Vertigo, during their lifetime. These symptoms can be caused by an inner ear problem, neck stiffness or dysfunction. They can also be a side effect of certain medications or even signify a more serious problem to be further investigated.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is the most common reason for feeling dizziness or spinning and is usually associated with changes in head position. The symptoms may only last for a few seconds. This disorder can usually be diagnosed and treated very successfully with only a couple manoeuvres performed in the clinic.
Other conditions known to cause these symptoms include Meniere's disease, vestibular neuritis/ labyrinthitis, vestibular migraine, PPPD, or if you are recovering from ear surgery.
