The European School of Advanced Management (ESAM Paris) has awarded, through its Dean Yannick Roussel, the highest academic distinction, the honorary doctorate, to the Honorable Philippe Couillard, Prime Minister of Quebec from 2014 to 2018.
This exceptional honorary distinction is intended to salute his contribution to the political, economic and social development of his country and more broadly to salute the work of a man who has made a remarkable contribution to the development of Quebec by making it shine throughout the world.
"A true visionary, Philippe Couillard stands out both for his exceptional managerial skills and his commitment to the community. He is a role model for our new graduates," said Rayan Makhlouf, Director of Public Relations. Philippe Couillard served as chief of surgery at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke before beginning his political career. He was elected as a member of the Quebec National Assembly for the riding of Mont-Royal in 2003 and later for the ridings of Jean-Talon and Roberval. Mr. Couillard served as Minister of Health and Social Services from 2003 to 2008 and as Premier of Quebec from 2014 to 2018. His achievements include a major turnaround of Quebec's public finances and economy, while ensuring its influence on the international scene.
Now an entrepreneur, he heads the Canadian branch of Britishvolt Inc. a company that develops lithium-ion battery technology, plans to build the first mega-battery factory in the United Kingdom and a second in Canada.
