DETROIT, MICHIGAN - - - Dexter Powell, Jr. is on a journey to share his faith with the world. He says he was called by God to provide hope to the masses especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, at just 37-years-old, Powell has survived much more than his fair share of challenges. He has overcome extreme bullying, obesity, drug addiction, a suicide attempt and cancer. He says his perseverance has made him a better husband and father and now a vessel for God. And as word has spread about Powell's mission, so have the requests for prayers. People around the world contact him to ask him to pray for them and their family members who are struggling with health issues, relationship problems, addictions, or fear of what the future may hold. So that is what he does.
On February 1, Powell began to fast from food, only drinking herbal tea. On day 10 of the fast, he had a supernatural visitation. God told him to prepare for global revival because the world was going to look completely different in 30 days. Nearly two weeks later, on February 22 with just the clothes on his back, and $60 to his name Powell commenced the Faith Walk for Global Revival. The trek took him from Michigan to Georgia and led to meetings with spiritual leaders on March 15, the National Day of Prayer, that prophetically confirmed his purpose for the journey.
The 25-day journey was fraught with financial, emotional, and mental challenges. Yet, Powell believed his lifelong battles against the greatest of odds, made him strong in the face of the skepticism and rejection he encountered along with way.
Each day Powell was in Georgia, he faced many obstacles because of the impending spread of the Novel Coronavirus and the panic that was ensuing around him. God's voice and message to go" became clearer each day, as the world began to look very different.
This pandemic is challenging many individuals' physical and mental health - as well as their faith. I help them in the best way I know how - through the power of prayer and encouraging words. I receive prayer requests from people around the world. I answer each and every one and petition Heaven on their behalf to help them deal with their personal demons, said Powell.
Powell's full Faith Walk is chronicled via blog posts, photos and videos on his website at iamdexspeaks.com, YouTube @ iamdexspeaks and Facebook at Dexter Powell. He wants his experiences to serve as a source of strength for people living in angst because of the current health emergency sweeping the globe.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
Now is not the time to give into fear and despair. We must embrace God and his love. I will continue to spread the message of hope so that others will find comfort through the testimonies from my life and the journey that we share, he added.
