Ms. Kwan Verified

Nesita Kwan is one of the principal anchors of WMAQ-TV, NBC 5 Chicago News, where she covers the health and wellness beat. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Ms. Kwan joined the station as co-anchor of the weekend evening edition of NBC 5 Chicago News in 1994. Prior to Chicago, she co-anchored the weekend news at KHOU-TV, the CBS affiliate in Houston, Texas. She also produced and reported a consumer affairs segment for the 10 p.m. news there. Prior to that, she was a co-anchor and reporter for KHOU-TV's sister station, WVEC-TV, in Norfolk, Va., from 1990 to 1992. From 1987 to 1990 she was an anchor/reporter for WDBJ-TV in Roanoke, Va. She got her start in broadcasting as a reporter for WINA-AM in Charlottesville. [CR-LF][CR-LF]In partnership with the University of Chicago and the Chicago Sister Cities program, Ms. Kwan helped create an international speakers series on journalism, as well as a Women's Day forum at the same event. Her health unit sponsors eight interns a year from universities and colleges across the nation. She graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia with a bachelor's degree in English. Ms.Kwan speaks fluent Cantonese.
