Press Release Power Within the context of Sweden’s feminist foreign policy, the Ministry for External Affairs is taking part in the global #GirlsTakeover operation. Through this campaign – an inventiveness of Plan International – girls all over the world will step into a guidance role on in linking with Universal Day of the Girl Child.

In 21 countries, Swedish undertakings abroad have invited girls from the local municipal to take part in their work for one day. At the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm, a girl will work combined with Minister for Foreign Affairs Ann Linde on On the same day in Stockholm, an international consultation on girls’ rights organized by Plan International will also best part the fight.

- “As a group in society, girls are often doubly separated against – on the basis of both sex and age. Despite discrimination, girls around the world are standing up against outdated backgrounds, norms and laws. Sweden requests to support them and increase their reflectivity.

In 2014, Sweden became the first country in the world to launch a campaigner foreign policy. The aim is to strengthen rights, symbol and resources for all women and girls. This policy is needed. No country has done full gender fairness, advances are being tested, and women and girls are still analytically subordinated in every part of the world.
